Shmariovich, Vasilii Mikhailovich
Vasilii Mikhailovich Shmariovich (Russian: Василий Михайлович Шмариович, born 30 October 2005, Moscow) is a Russian lighting engineer, researcher and project manager. Specialist in the field of lighting engineering, author of numerous scientific papers in the field of electronics and materials science.
President and Chairman of the Board of the closed scientific and technical syndicate «ExTRM» (Executive Technical Research & Management) since 2026.
Deputy Head of the Scientific Organizing Committee of the Student Scientific Society (SSS) National Research University «MPEI» from 2024 to 2025.
Chairman of the Board of ER-01-23 of the Institute of Radio Engineering and Electronic named after V.A. Kotelnikova from 2023 to 2024.

Biography—————————————————————————————
Born on October 30, 2005 in Moscow. He studied at a school with an in-depth study of physics and mathematics. He graduated from music school with a piano class with a seven-year course of study, including choral singing and solfeggio.
In 2014-2016, he performed as a member of the children's musical group of the «Enjoy Drumming» school of percussion, and gave solo concerts. In parallel, from 2014 to 2018, he was engaged in robotics, which predetermined his interest in electronics and automation.
During his childhood and adolescence, he traveled a lot, visited most of Europe and some African countries; the experience of communicating in English during his travels contributed to his in-depth study. In 2017, he participated in the VII International Blitz Tournament in English «Rainbow», where he took 8th place in the country.
While still in school, he began to engage in research activities: he implemented a project on the physics of atmospheric phenomena dedicated to proving the existence of ball lightning, and also participated in the development of a scientific project in collaboration with a classmate. Multiple winner of the municipal and regional stages of the All-Russian Olympiad in Physics and Astronomy. He was awarded several times by the headmaster and teachers for academic success, active participation in class and school life.
In 2023, he entered the National Research University «MPEI» in the field of «Electronics and Nanoelectronics». He was a member of the Student Scientific Society (SSS) and the University's Trade Union Organization. From 2024 to 2025, he served as Deputy Head of the Scientific and Organizational Committee of the National Research University «MPEI». In this role, he participated in the coordination of scientific events at the university, the organization of festivals and competitions of student projects. Previously, in 2023-2024, he served as Chairman of the Council of the ER-01-23 Group of the Institute of Radio Engineering and Electronics named after V.A. Kotelnikova, where he was responsible for organizing the work of the student council of the group and interacting with the administration of the institute.
He studied and worked under the guidance of outstanding scientists and mentors: Professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences Vladimir Pavlovich Budak, a recognized expert in the field of radiation transfer theory, author of numerous works and editor—in-chief of the journal «Svetotekhnika»; Head of the Department of Lighting Engineering Georgy Valentinovich Boos, Candidate of Technical Sciences and winner of the State Prize of the Russian Federation; Professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences Andrey Andreevich Grigoriev, Chairman of Russia's only doctoral Dissertation Council on lighting engineering; and also the director Institute of Radio Engineering and Electronics named after V.A. Kotelnikov Roman Sergeevich Kulikov, Doctor of Technical Sciences in the field of radar and radio navigation.
During this work, he implemented comprehensive lighting solutions for commercial and government facilities, including Domodedovo International Airport and the Eclipse Lounge restaurant. Author of numerous scientific publications on electronics and materials science.
In 2026, he founded the National Research University «MPEI» sports backgammon team (backgammon), in which he acts as a player and coach. In the same year, he became the champion of the university and the champion of the V. A. Kotelnikov IRE, and also won prizes at regional competitions.
In 2026, he founded and headed the closed scientific and technical syndicate «ExTRM», an elite engineering association focused on end-to-end management of complex technical projects, from concept to implementation.
The creation of the syndicate was a logical continuation of many years of experience in project management and the desire to consolidate expertise in the field of lighting, electronics and automation systems for the implementation of customized solutions at the state and commercial levels.
He was engaged in teaching exact sciences, popularizing science and producing.

He supervised the experimental verification of the lighting characteristics of the landing lights.
He established a critical reduction in lighting intensity due to contamination of the optical system. He initiated the introduction of rules for regular cleaning of optical elements and mandatory monitoring of actual illumination in the internal regulations of the service.
He conducted a comparative analysis of metal halide and LED sources, and proved the choice of the priority type of runway lighting.
He developed and presented proposals for optimizing the geometric placement of luminaires to eliminate areas of uneven illumination and initiated their implementation.
Travelverse (Lisbon, Portugal) — Web3 testing and development engineer, specialist in blockchain solutions in the field of tourism and culture · 2025
He led the development and testing of digital products based on blockchain and NFT for the tourism industry in the Portuguese office of the company. He created the architecture of unique NFT tokens and contributed to the development of unique tourist routes with the integration of blockchain solutions.

l · End-to-end design of the lighting concept of the premium restaurant «Eclipse Longe» · 2025
He has developed a full-cycle lighting project for the restaurant from scratch: from architectural concepts and planning solutions to lighting calculations and 3D visualization. The project included modeling of space, furniture and lighting devices with customization of light intensity curves, development of different lighting scenarios and economic justification.
He was nominated by the Department of Lighting Engineering for a closed industry competition with the participation of leading manufacturers. According to the jury members, the work corresponded to the level of the finalists and industry standards.
ll · Research management within the framework of the state program «Priority 2030» · 2024
In 2024, as part of the Priority 2030 state program for strategic and academic leadership, he became the head and lead analyst of a comprehensive sociological study «The cognitive impact of social networks on young people: an analysis of information bubbles and psychological consequences.» The project covered a full cycle: from setting tasks to collecting and analyzing data, and formulating practical recommendations.
The result of the work was the university's official application for the federal competition. The university management noted the contribution to the implementation of the strategic program.
lll · Development of a technological project in the field of robotics · 2023
He proposed and implemented the concept of an automated system for cleaning surfaces for didactic purposes. The project included engineering design, development of control algorithms and creation of a working prototype.
According to the results of the VII University competition of technological projects, the work was awarded the second place in the field of «Robotics».
IV · Scientific communication and popularization of physics · 2024
At the invitation of the Department of Physics, he developed and conducted educational events aimed at adapting complex scientific concepts to a wide audience. As part of the work, accessible explanations of fundamental physical phenomena were created, guided tours and public appearances were conducted.
